Training

You never stop learning when it comes to horse training.

People bring their horses to me for training. I train the horse and I train the owner. Most people do not realize they need training too to be able to continue on with what I teach them and their horse. It can be a difficult thing to tell the owner they need training. It can be even more difficult to tell the owner that he or she is the main cause of their horse's problem.

The horse learns respect through conditioned responses by gentle pressure and release. The horse builds confidence and the owner builds confidence by getting the desired responses from his or her horse. The goal in training is to end up with a finished, well-trained, soft and supple horse.

The best way to continue to learn for me and my clients is to attend clinics, listen and learn from respected trainers.

I train with a focus on a foundation to produce a finished, well-trained, soft and supple horse. Every discipline can benefit from this foundation. I train and compete in Western pleasure. I also work with barrel horses on turning, but the discipline doesn't matter in most cases. If we get your horse to listen to your cues and he is soft and responsive, you can go and do just about anything. I have no English training, but English horses do well with the training methods I use.

I will work with you and your horse and give you the tools you need to improve communication with your horse. When you take your horse home, you will be able to maintain the learned training and build on to it.
